CAMBRO BRITS EXPLAINED
'Cambro Brits' was a term brought into use largely by post Tudor poets and writers who were edging their bets by trying to cling on to a cultural Cambrian past whilst at the same time carefully observing an allegiance to the Tudors and a new political and economic reality in order to advance in that world. Such was fully observed and promoted by such as the Cambro-Brit 'Society of Ancient Britons' and the 'Cymmrodorion' and later by 'Welsh Victorian Establishment Cultural Nationalist. The Irish and Scots were much more Independently minded and steered clear of such 'slavish' forms of Identity - and we now see it as part of our struggle here in Cymru to 'show up' such 'Cambro Brits' as George Thomas, Lloyd George, Dafydd Elis Thomas and many others - because there are plenty of them, for what they were and still are because the Cambro Brit mentality still prevails here in Cymru and has been carried by 'expats' all over the world. For example, you should see the 'Cymmrodorion' in London toasting the Queen of England at their St David's day dinners! They consider themselves to be 'CYMRY DA ODDI CARTREF' because of this false speudo 'Cambro Brit' identity that they are living and its not an identity that we want here in Cymru, we want to promote an identity where our people are Cymry living in Cymru and promotion of the use of 'Cambrian' in such form as 'Cambria' is feeding the 'British' aka English hold on Cymru and its people. Waffling on about Strathclyde Britons is all very acadaemic Bun, and is not of any assistance to our cause to unite the 'Cymry' and strengthen our identity as Cymru. You chose to leave Cymru over 40 yrs ago to make a life for yourself in Llydaw - and that's fine - your choice but, please do not undermine the work we're doing here with 'daft' and negative posts. I would not undermine the Breton cause with such 'useless hot air'.
